The Newbury was born from a desire to bring a refined yet approachable East Coast salon experience to Oklahoma. Owners Jamie Macklin and Kevin Wilson relocated from Boston to Oklahoma City with a vision of creating a salon that felt elevated, welcoming, and thoughtfully tailored to the needs of the Edmond and OKC communities.
Drawing from Jamie’s years of experience behind the chair in Boston’s premier salon scene and Kevin’s Oklahoma roots, The Newbury blends sophisticated design, exceptional service, and a warm, approachable atmosphere. The goal was simple: create a destination where guests can enjoy expert hair services in a space that feels both polished and comfortable.
The salon’s name is inspired by Boston’s iconic Newbury Street, the city’s premier shopping and dining destination. Spanning eight picturesque blocks through the historic Back Bay neighborhood—from the Public Garden to Massachusetts Avenue—Newbury Street is lined with beautiful 19th-century brownstones and features an eclectic mix of luxury retailers, independent boutiques, art galleries, cafés, and restaurants. It is also home to more than 70 salons and spas, making it one of the most celebrated beauty districts in the country.
That influence can be felt throughout The Newbury—from its timeless aesthetic and attention to detail to its commitment to exceptional guest experiences. While inspired by Boston, The Newbury was created for Edmond and the entire Metro area : a modern salon where artistry, hospitality, and community come together.
